Grading System

  • Mint Condition – A card that is unused and in pristine condition. For vintage cards only if they are in unopened packages.
  • Excellent Condition – A card is nearly flawless, with sharp, unbent corners. These cards may have been used, but the usage has not had a negative effect on the appearance of the card.
  • Very Good – A card shows minimal wear and tear, such as album marks or slight discolorations that come from age and handling. The card must still be appealing to another collector to be considered ‘very good.’
  • Good - A card has visible defects, postal damage, creases or other obvious signs of handling. Even so, the card’s image should be free from visible imperfections.
  • Fair - A card has extensive staining, creasing and water damage or has significant creases with bent edges. These cards are just barely collectible.
  • Poor - A card’s image has been compromised and has other apparent damages. Such cards are usually not sought out by serious collectors. However, if the image is very rare or the card has a unique history (for example, it it contains a handwritten message from a celebrity), then you may still wish to sell or buy a ‘poor’ card.
